RISCO FAQ
The following is a list of ReaderKEY2/RediSAFE FAQS that may be helpful in using the new Risco system.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR KEY CHARGED AND UPDATED SO THAT YOU CAN AVOID HAVING A PROBLEM AT YOUR SHOWINGS.
How do I get in touch with RISCO?
You may call them or contact them through email. To get the automated system call, 913-722-3212. To get technical support call, 800-929-0193 or email them at: support@riscolockbox.com. You will need: Our Assoc. Board ID# 8320, the serial # on the back of your key, and your PIN number.
- Do I need to charge my ReaderKEY2?
Yes. If you are not sure what the battery life is on your key, you may check it in the menu. To do it quickly, after you enter your PIN press 3-1-1-3. The screen will then show you what kind of charge you have. A full charge takes 3 hrs. and lasts 2 weeks. You charge it by plugging it in the same way you update the key. Each time you plug it in to the computer your key will update and charge. It will need to charge at least 40 minutes after you update your key each week. If you are updating your key more often, which is highly recommended, leave it in to charge afterwards for about 10-15 mins. - When will my ReaderKEY2 expire?
Your ReaderKEY2 will expire a week from the date you update it from your computer. When the key is turned on, the small display screen will show a) your first initial, b) the first 3 letters on your last name and c) the date the key will expire. Example: R JOHNS EXP 10/15/2005 - How do I Update my ReaderKEY2?
Once the program is downloaded from www.riscolockbox.com, plug in the bigger end of your USB cord to your computer, then plug in the smaller end to your key. A gray box with the RISCO logo in it, will pop up on the bottom right hand corner of your screen. As it updates your key, the box will explain what is happening. Example: KEY DETECTED. ACCESSING SERVER. UPDATING KEY. During this process, your key will be beeping. Be sure that you have the Internet is up and working on the computer you use to do this. IF YOUR INTERNET IS DOWN, IT WILL NOT WORK. This also applies to what computer you download the program to. You may download the program on multiple computers if necessary. - Can I call RISCO to get an update code?
Yes. These are called offline updates. They only last until midnight of the day you get them, regardless of what time you call. You have a limited number of times you may receive them. After doing it 3 times in a row, you'll need to do it from your own computer. Once you use the computer to update your ReaderKEY2, the count is cleared and you will be allowed 3 more offline updates.
